"Archive 3: Visible/Invisible captures an early period of Locrian from their first studio session. recorded at the same time as the "Plague Journal" 7" Locrian was predominately a band releasing records from live recordings and radio sessions as they explored their sound. "Visible/Invisible" was inspired by a reissue of the famous Eno/Fripp collaborative album "No Pussyfooting" which included tracks at 1/2 speed and other mutations. There is also an extended live version included focusing on the many permutations the track could take from plaintive drone to harsh walls of noise."

"We recorded Visible/Invisible in March 2007, our first studio session, and it showcases a more ethereal and ambient side of our work. Terence laid the foundation with a thick wall of harmonica and, later, synths. I used my Ovation acoustic-electrical guitar to coax billowy feedback from my amp. The end of the track has a nice intermingling of drones from a bass synth, harmonicas, feedback, and an eBow solo. At the time we talked about how we wanted the end of the track to evoke the feeling of watching a sunrise. "

"The film was shot when Genesis came to visit me in 2008. It was the first time we'd been together since Jaye died the year before. We were playing with my camera one morning and thought it would be funny to film he/r blowdrying he/r hair, but as I started shooting my super8 camera began to break down. When I developed the footage I was depressed to find that I'd only caught a fleeting few seconds before the film flooded with light. Later on, as I was reexamining the footage at a slower speed, looping it to try to extend the moment, I just happened to be listening to Visible/Invisible. The film suddenly made itself."

I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately.
