"Experimental, avant-black metal artisans LOCRIAN return with Infinite Dissolution, another dark and cinematic work of exceptional aural artistry. More epic and foreboding than anything in the prolific trio's catalog, Infinite Dissolution was produced by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles) and is a multi-part concept album dealing with the struggle of extinction. A seamless and harrowing blend of dark ambience, drone, black metal, post-rock, and experimental electronics, Infinite Dissolution is the perfect manifestation of modern, forward-thinking experimental music." - From the label

about

"The brilliant opener "Arc of Extinction" begins like a Locrian creeper of not so long ago, with piercing noise and saturating tones shaping a broad drone. Powered by Hess, though, the song steadily escalates, moving from a slow-motion march into a sustained sprint of blast beats. Locrian have touched on black metal before, but here, they perfectly tuck it into their past. The speed animates the animosity. The tumult counters a guitar solo so bright it seems excised from a Rainbow record. The effect is both beautiful and frightening, much like the lyrics of death and rebirth that Hannum sends into the squall. The brief poem at the center of "Arc of Extinction" highlights another crucial element of Locrian’s evolution, because you can barely hear Hannum. Instead, his words are massaged deep into the mix, so that they are part of a whole and not its obvious leading edge."
-Grayson Haver Currin, Pitchfork, July 22, 2015

"The sublime "Arc of Extinction" opens the album with chaotic droning doom and finds its way to the ecstasy of a triple-guitar attack. Raymond Salvatore Harmon, who made the 3-D video for Locrian's "At Night's End," provides kaleidoscopic visuals for the track that look like the world through Predator's eyes. He writes, "The video was made through compositing layers of glitched interactive 3-D objects with shot footage in the wild.""
-Lars Gotrich, NPR, July 29, 2015
